NEWPORT NEWS - Joseph Teta, Jr., 76, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014. He was born in Jersey City, NJ. Joe retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus Walter Pollard Council 5480. He was also a 4th Degree Knight of Assembly 2430. For many years, Joe, an avid Poker player, enjoyed volunteering at the Knights' weekly Bingo games and playing a couple of good games of cribbage prior to Bingo. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Jean; one son, Yun Chong OK and wife, Jewel, of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Robert and wife, Evelyn, of Bradenton, FL and Thomas and wife, Alice, of Whiting, NJ; and two grandsons, Dallas OK and wife, Kathe, of Washington, D.C. and Thomas OK of Harrisonburg, VA. Family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2014 at St. Jerome Catholic Church by Rev. Henry Diesta. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jerome Church Columbarium Fund, 116 Denbigh Blvd., Newport News, VA 23602. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home. |
