EDWARD G MCGILLIVRAY

 

MCGILLIVRAY, Edward Gordon died peacefully at home in Tucson, Arizona on October 11, 2018, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born March 2, 1924 in Cloquet, Minnesota, the son of the late Earl Kirk McGillivray and Celia Julia LeBeau. He was a 1942 graduate of Cloquet High School and enlisted in the U.S Army Air Corp following graduation. Following his WWII service, he attended the University of Minnesota and studied engineering. He subsequently worked for the Minnesota Highway Department and for a Minneapolis construction company before taking a career position with Conwed Corporation in Cloquet, Minnesota, where he worked for 35 years. Edward became a multi-dimensional industrial engineer and was among the first to apply early computer technology to the day-to-day engineering and manufacturing of Conwed in the early 1980s. Edward is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Grace (nee Madigan). They were blessed with 11 children, all of whom survive the loss of their beloved father. Edward was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, actively participating at both Sacred Heart parish in Cloquet and at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Tucson. He was a devoted and loving husband, and a patient and most treasured father. Edward was an expert trout fisherman, outdoorsman, and golfer. He was also an invaluable friend. He was an accomplished bridge player and loved playing all card games, especially with his children, cribbage being a favorite. Along with his loving wife; Edward is survived by his six daughters, Virginia Ann, Joann Marie, Grace Mary, Sharon Rose, Maureen Ann, and Jane Elizabeth; as well as his five sons, Paul Gerard, Burton Edward, Joseph Francis, Thomas Malcolm and Edward Gordon. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and all four of his siblings, Earl James, Burton Roy, William Raymond, and Mary Jeanne. The Funeral will take place Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 12:00 noon at St. Pius X Church, pastor Harry Ledwith officiating. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
