JAMES KRIENKE

 

Oconomowoc - Born in Wausau, WI, October 5, 1928, Lived in De Pere WI, for 59 years, Passed in Oconomowoc, WI on Sunday, September 30, 2018, age 89.

Reunited with his wife, Claire of De Pere of 58 years, on Sunday, September 30, 2018. He is survived by his children Maryclaire (the late Mark) Torinus of Brookfield, WI, Scott (Mary) Krienke of Delafield, WI and Timothy (Kelly) Krienke of St. Paul, MN. Also survived by his brother George Krienke (Ramona) of St. Paul, MN. He is a proud grandpa of Nathan (Cynthia) Torinus, Sarah Torinus, Anne Torinus, Ryan (Bethany) Krienke, Elizabeth (Dan) Matola, Nicholas Krienke, Emily (Sean) Nelson, Patrick Krienke and Ellie Krienke. Jim was also blessed with Great Grandchildren, James and Juliette Torinus, Bridget and Keegan Krienke, Vincent, Nicholas and Lali Matola.

He is further survived by Dorothy Gustafson of Wausau, who he married late in life. Jim and Dorthy enjoyed several good years together before heath issue separated them. In addition, also loved by many family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Mildred, stepmother Linda, brothers Frederick and Herbert, all from Wausau.

He loved participating and watching sports. He was an All-State and Wisconsin Player of the Year for the 1945 Wausau High School Football team. Jim accepted a scholarship and attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Later, he played Semi-Pro football for the Wausau Muskies. He loved to play golf and cheer for the Green-Bay Packers. He played handball at the YMCA- Green Bay into his 80's. As an aside he tore both Achilles tendons one year apart on the handball court.

Jim was a long-time co-owner of the Garot-Christman Insurance Agency and moved to Green Bay with the firm in 1964, where he and Claire raised their family.

Jim enjoyed life; never took anything for granted and was a gentle, kind man. He was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Church of De Pere for over 50 years where he taught Catechism, served on the Parish Council and School Board. He was a talented singer and was lead of an award-winning Barbershop Quartet for several decades.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of AngelsGrace Hospice of Oconomowoc.

Gathering will be held at ST. ANTHONY ON THE LAKE CATHOLIC CHURCH, W280N2101 Prospect Ave, Pewaukee, WI 53072, on Monday, October 8, 2018, 9:30-11AM. Memorial Mass at 11AM. Father John Yockey officiating. Burial will be held privately at a later date at Allouez Catholic Cemetery in Green Bay.

In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to St. Anthony on the Lake Catholic Church or AngelsGrace Hospice.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
