History

We are Catholic gentlemen who value our belief in the Roman Catholic Church, promoting our Christian beliefs through the exemplification of charity, unity, fraternity, patriotism, and support of our Parish. The Order is consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.  The Order is explicit in its loyalty to the Pope, the Vicar of Christ on earth. It is firmly committed to the protection of human life, from conception to natural death. Our Council is chartered through the International Organization of the Knights of Columbus. It is on these bedrock principles that the Order was founded over a century ago on March 29, 1882 by Fr. Michael J. McGivney and remains true to them today.

The Father Robert E. Nudd Council of the Knights of Columbus was founded June 28, 1979, under the leadership of Charter Chaplain Fr. Ed and Charter Grand Knight James Danoy. We are named after the late Father Robert E. Nudd, the founding Pastor of St. Timothy Parish. We honor our namesake every year by attending the 12:30 PM mass on the second Sunday in August. The mass is followed by a prayer service at the resting place of Father Nudd at the nearby Fairfax Memorial Park. Our current membership is around 250 Brothers. Every year we add about 20 new members that are looking for a family-oriented, faith based group that is committed to service. For more information on the History of the Knights of Columbus visit the Supreme Council Homepage.

What We Do

Charity is the most important duty of the Knights of Columbus.

We are a Fraternal Organization providing a social outlet for families of St. Timothy Parish located in Chantilly, VA.

We host parish breakfasts, offer complementary coffee and donuts after Sunday Masses, and family dinners are held on Saturday evenings after the 5:30 PM mass. We have Italian Night, Irish Night, Oktoberfest, Mexican Fiesta Night, and Taco Night. We cosponser Korean Night with our Brother Knights from St. Paul Chung Parish. As a fundraiser, we sell Brunswick Stew outside of the church on Superbowl Sunday.

We host a Free Senior Thanksgiving Dinner that is cosponsored with our Brother Knights from nearby St. Andrews Parish, that’s open to all senior citizens in the surrounding community.

During Lent, we cook meatless dinners on Friday evenings prior to the Stations of the Cross.

Our youth program is highlighted by our sponsorship of Boy Scout Troop #7369, founded in January 2010 by Past Grand Knight C.J. Staton. We also hold an annual basketball free-throw contest in late January or early February. We support parish Youth Programs by cooking at the Vacation Bible School Picnic every July and cooking at the annual Altar Service Picnic. We provide keepsake Bibbles to High School Seniors who have participated in the Parish Youth Group or the CCD Religious Education Program.

Our church programs include Keep Christ in Christmas Card Sales and a crèche that we erect in the church courtyard during Advent. Christmas Tree Sales is our biggest fundraiser during a three to four week period beginning the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Our Pro-Life activities include participation in the March for Life every January.

We host fundraising dinners to support the Brain Foundation.

Each April we collect donations for the intellectually disabled for a statewide charity called KOVAR (http://kovarva.org).

Ladies Social Auxilary

The Father Nudd Council has a very active Ladies Social Auxiliary. For over 13 years the ladies have been meeting socialy to encourage each other socially and spiritually.
