COUNCIL INFORMATION

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Council 13405

History of the Knights of Columbus at our Parish

A Council was formed to serve the 4 Parishes in the South Windsor area in the late 1950's.  Through the years as our Parish grew, and with the objective of the Knights of Columbus to have a Council in every Parish, plans were put into place for Our Lady of Mount Carmel to form our own Parish based Council.

Our Council received it's Charter on October 20, 2003.  This was achieved through the efforts of a small, but committed group of parishioners of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish under the leadership and support from our Pastor and founding Chaplain, Father Michael Parent and our first Grand Knight Brian Giroux.

We are a 'parish based Council' in which we work closely with and for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish by providing funds, resources and volunteer man hours for various projects.

Among the many programs and charities we support include;

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Youth Group

St. Vincent de Paul Society

Windsor Essex Hospice

Our Lady of Guadelupe Home

Catholic Youth Ministries

Pro Life Causes

Basketball Free Throw

Soccer Challenge

Youth bursaries for Catholic education

Seminarian and Clergy support

Ontario Special Olympics

Arthritis Society of Ontario

Net Ministry

From very humble beginnings when we started with 30 Charter Members we have now grown to 140 Catholic gentlemen who actively support these and many other parish and community initiatives.

MOTTO:

In Service to One; In Service to All

SPIRITUALITY:

The Knights of Columbus upholds the two great commandments of Jesus Christ:  To love God with our entire being; and to love our neighbour as ourselves.

VISION:

A Catholic Fraternal Society to benefit Members, Families, Church and their Community

"In practicing charity in the spirit of unity, we lead by our witness and we bring to life Christ's words in the Gospel that all will know we are his disciples by the way we love one another".

MISSION:

To carry out our duties as Knights based on the principles of Charity, Unity and Fraternity as we focus on activities in the areas of Family, Youth, Church, Council, Community and Pro-Life.

"The Knights of Columbus vocation is to "seek the kingdom of God by engaging in temporal affairs and by ordering them according to the plan of God" and to "make Christ known to others, especially by the testimony of a life resplendent in faith, hope and charity."
