PILGRIMAGE TO SAINT JOHN PAUL II SHRINE
Brother Knights & Family,
The Council is planning & sponsoring a husband & wife Tour & Pilgrimage to the Saint John Paul ll National Shrine on Saturday, June 1st, 2019.
The Springfield Council's "very own" Brother Ken Balbuena will be leading the tour.
He serves as the Shrine's Director of Pilgrimage & Visitor Services. The Shrine is "owned & operated" by the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council and its mission is to preserve the life & legacy of Saint John Paul ll.
The Shrine features floor-to-ceiling mosaics and a 16,000 sq.ft. permanent exhibit with "thousands" of personal artifacts. Additionally, the Shrine also has a "first-class" relic available for veneration and a mass will be included in the pilgrimage schedule.
Transportation & lunch has been arranged by the council. The cost for the bus & a box lunch is $50 per couple. The bus will leave promptly at 9:00 AM for a 10:00 AM arrival at the Shrine.
The Holy Father grants a Plenary Indulgence if you pray before the relic of Saint John Paul ll remembering one's duty to the Holy Father, and concludes with the Lord's Prayer, the Creed, the Hail Mary and the following verse:
"You are the Shepard of the sheep, O Prince of the Apostles
To you the keys of the kingdom of heaven have been given"
I strongly encourage
you to "sign-up" as soon as possible, as we expect this event to receive a "strong response" to attend, enjoy and receive a Plenary Indulgence. Additionally, this is an excellent opportunity to take advantage of this pilgrimage to experience the Shrine of St. John Paul II with the added benefit of fraternal fellowship of our Brother Knights and their families.
If you have any questions, please contact Brother Ken Balbuena at this address:
I look forward to seeing you on the Tour & Pilgrimage!
