St. Patrick's Day Corned-Beef and Cabbage Dinner, March 21st
Our second annual crab feed this year will be replaced with a new tradition of having a St. Patrick's Day dinner of corned-beef and cabbage. This will take place after mass at 6:30 pm. PGK Adin Selby will run the kitchen. We are currently looking for raffle donations. Tickets will go on sale the end of February after all masses. Check back soon for more information. Annual Crab Feed, Feb. 1, 2020
Our annual crab feed took place Saturday, February 1, 2020. This event quickly sold out. The menu consisted of anti-pasta plate, salad, clam chowder, pasta, garlic bread, shrimp, and all-you-can-eat-crab, with wine at every table. There was a no-host bar, raffle, silent auction, and two 50-50 games. We would like to thank the knights, parishioners and their families who participated in the event, which appeared to be enjoyed by all who attended. Special thanks to our event co-chairs, DGK Damon Thayer and Bob Jett. Also, thanks to Bob Cook and his wife for running the bar, Scott McCabe and his wife for chairing the set-up and decorations, and of course, Steve Ruch and Adin Selby for chairing the kitchen crew. This is the largest fund raiser for our council and it appears to have been successful by all accounts. (updated 2/2/20)
Veterans Day Dinner was a success (again!)
Our council once again honored those who have served in our armed forced, as well as police and fire protection. On Saturday, November 9, 2019, the dinner kicked off with the Honored Comrades Table presentaion (Thank you Scott McCabe and team for the fabulaous set-up), the Pledge of Allegience, and the National Anthem. Fr. Sylvester led the prayer. Fr. Michael Vaughan, Vicar General for the Diocese of Sacramento, spoke of his conversion during his tour in Afghanistan. The dinner menu consisted of smoked brisket (thank you Br. David Hayworth), Dakota sausgae, BBQ chicken, beans, salad, and corn muffins (thank you PGK Adin Selby and team for the wonderful food!). We had a full bar (thank you Br. Bob Cook and wife Lorraine), silent auction, and dessert auction. Afterward, a speaker from the Sacramento Veterans Resource Center spoker of the good work that they do (tips for servers went to support this noble cause). Our good friend Michael Arcangelo provided his excellent deejay services and Br. Steve Ruch led the 50/50 card game. We sold about 150 dinner tickets and a good time was had by all. Thank you to all the Knights who helped make this dinner a success, to all the wonderful people who purchased tickets, and a special thank you to all who served in the armed forces. Pancake Breakfast begins earlier!
The parish pancake breakfast continues to be served on the third Sunday of the month. On December 15, we will begin serving even earlier: starting at 8:15. Those students (and families) who attend 9:00 CFF can have breakfast before they go, and be ready to attend 10:00 mass after CFF. Preparation begins at 7:00. We will continue to serve until 12:00. We need help in the kitchen, cooking, washing dishes, and serving. Contact Brother Bob Cook with your availability. (updated 12/14/19)
