Thanksgiving Food Drive was a success, despite the lockdown!
Our wonderful St. Maria Goretti parishioners donated 875 pounds of non-perishable food on (and before) the weekend of November 14 & 15! In addition, our counicl members received $163 in cash donations for the Elk Grove Food Bank. And, our council purchased $500 of turkeys (826 pounds) for the food bank. Many thanks go out to the chairman, Br. Bob Jett, and his crew who collected and delivered the food. The crew included DGK Sal Lira, Ted Mandalla, Juan Paleo, Bob Cook, and Sergio Guillen. Pictures can be found in the photo galleries on the left. We thank all parishioners and brothers who helped the needy during this extremely trying time. (updated 11/17/20)
2020-2021 Budget Proposal Approved
During the October business meeting on the 20th, the council overwhelmingly approved the budget for the 2020/2021 Columbian year. GK Damon gave a detailed explanation of each line-item and explained that this year's budget looks very different due to the limitations we have on fundraising during the coronavirus pandemic. The approved budget is available for our members to view by clicking on Members Only in the menu bar on the left. Once signed in, scroll to near the bottom and find the council budget. Drive-Thru Tri Tip Dinner Fundraiser was another Success
On October 9th, our council held its first fundraiser for the 2020/2021 Columbian year by selling family Tri-tip dinners to go for $50. PGK Adin Selby, PGK Al Garcia, and Br. Ted Mandalla teamed up to co-chair this BBQ Tri Tip Dinner, which included four baked potatoes, salad and garlic bread. Several other knights volunteered their time in the kitchen, for which we give a heart-felt thanks. Deacon Gary and our own Fr. Sylvester, dressed as Scooby Doo, greeted each customer as they drove up and then gave them their dinner. Proceeds for the event totaled $1,685.25, which will be split between our council and the parish. Many thanks to all who participated and to all who supported the event. The event co-chairs signaled their readiness to get started on the next event! (updated 10/21/20)
Council Meetings will be held online until further notice
At the strong recommendation of our Supreme Knight, (and subsequent state and local temporary policies) our council will be conducting our meetings online using the Zoom meeting application. Be on the look out for emails from the Grand Knight with meeting dates, times and codes/passwords to join. Let's set the example and stay safe! (updated 4/28/20)
