2020 - 2021

SK Stephen Abbott

Our Bill Mulderink Knight of the Year Award is our way of annually recognizing a Knight that has demonstrated continuous and unselfish Fraternal and Charitable works and a true commitment to the Knights of Columbus and our Council.

This year’s recipient certainly makes a difference and leads the way! He has been a Knight for 9 years and is very active, attending and participating in our monthly officer and council meetings as well as contributing a lot of his personal time in the performance of his duties. Similar to the motto of the postal service, he tirelessly lets little prevent him from completing his appointed round as an officer and a volunteer. Through his professionalism, accuracy, strong organizational skills and timeliness, he keeps our council financially strong and able to conduct our charitable Faith in Action programs in our parishes and community. He is responsible for maintaining member’s records, reviewing and maintaining an inventory of council supplies, reviews all monthly membership statements for accuracy and submits corrections to Supreme as needed. He accesses our council’s awards progress and submits Faith in Action Program reports, required numerous other reports when due and ensuring that a copy of all submitted documents is kept in our council records. He safeguards all funds in his possession and promptly records the funds received and delivers them to the Treasurer for deposit and files our taxes. He ensures that our council’s candidates sign our council’s Constitutional Roll as part of the Exemplification Ceremonial. He keeps our council’s seal and affix the same to all membership cards, resolutions and other official documents and ensures that all members are current in their dues.

Please join me in congratulating this years Bill Muldernick Knight of the Year Award winner,
Sir Knight Steph Abbott!

2019 - 2020

SK Jim Nash

Our Bill Mulderink Knight of the Year Award is our way of annually recognizing a Knight that has demonstrated continuous and unselfish Fraternal and Charitable works and a true commitment to the Knight of Columbus and our Council.

This year’s recipient certainly made a difference and lead the way! He is an active Sir Knight, attending and participating at officer and council meetings and at various activities and program events. He fills the role as a Chairman and Volunteer and is willing to lend a hand and help out when needed. This year when our largest Faith in Action Community program was in need of a new chairman, he stepped up to fill this much needed vacancy. He led the effort to secure insurance documents, permits and permissions from the State Council, the Village of Mount Prospect all the way down to the various local businesses to allow us to hit the street corners and stand in front of businesses to reach out to the public for donations to this worthy cause. His involvement did not stop there, He reached out to every member seeking their commitment to help staff this activity completing a spreadsheet indicating which Brothers Knights will be working and when and then providing that list to the location captains. Because of his efforts along with the support of many of our members our Intellectual Disability was able to raise approximately $15,000.00 this year!

Please join me in congratulating this years Bill Muldernick Knight of the Year Award winner, Sir Knight, Jim Nash!

This year’s recipient certainly makes a difference and leads the way! He is a very active Knight, attending and participating in our monthly officer and council meetings and at various activities and program events. He fills roles as an Officer, Program Director, Chairman, and Volunteer. He is always willing to lend a hand to help out. This year when our service programs were overhauled becoming Faith in Action, he went out and gathered all the information available and presented it to the council even making a display that can be used for recruiting, council outreach and educational needs. His involvement with the St. Emily’s Food Drive has earned the council the Knights of Columbus Food for Families Reimbursement Award, earning a reimbursement check of $300.00 that was donated to the St. Alphonsus Food Pantry. He is information driven and always has facts and figures available! He continues to do an outstanding job with our various youth programs including adding the Annual Spelling Bee back into the councils mix this year. He keeps our budget in mind with the youth activities awards that are now able to be used across all the events and calendar years.
