2020 - 2021

Jerome Gagnier

Brother Jerome Gagnier has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for 43 years. He is an Honorary Member and earned his 3rd Degree in 1979. Brother Jerome has participated in many Knights activities and community events over the years. He is a respected and thoughtful person who people look to for his insight on various matters. During the fraternal year 2020/2021 Brother Jerome recorded 656 hours of his time volunteering for his Church, council and community. The actual total is much higher.
He is responsible for and has devoted himself to the Ted Nunan Divine Mercy Cenacle for many years. As a musician and singer possessing a wonderful voice, he has given so much of his time to singing in the Church choir and harmonizing with other talented singers.
He is technically proficient in setting up and managing not only sound equipment but also video. When the Covid-19 pandemic restricted in-person attendance at masses, Father Monaghan asked Brother Jerome for assistance in delivering weekly masses on YouTube. This involved planning a video and audio setup along with running the necessary cables to support the configuration. Jerome operated the camera for the initial months until additional camera operators were found. The YouTube live streaming of weekly mass at Saint Faustina has allowed parishioners to remain connected to the liturgy. Brother Jerome’s efforts in supporting the parish whenever there is a need are praiseworthy.
Brother Jerome has also been selling items on Kijiji with the proceeds going to our council charity account to help those in need.
Special thanks to his wife, Lady Jane, who has been at his side supporting him in all the things that he does for so many.
If that wasn’t enough, he is responsible for communications on Flocknote and for the Parish. He is a member of Parish Council as well as the Mission Advancement Team. He assisted in the planning and building of Father Monaghan's Covid Cabin and was involved in the set-up and take-down at the outdoor Masses.
Congratulations Brother Jerome on being awarded Knight of the Year for 2020/2021. Your exemplar of service to others is an outstanding illustration of the highest traditions of the Knights of Columbus.

2019 - 2020

Steve Phillips

Knight of the Year 2020 was awarded to Brother Steve Phillips. A Knight since 1995, Steve has been a dedicated Knight to our council since he joined in 2018. This fraternal year, Steve volunteered for the role of Warden. He is the Web-Master for our website www.kofc13049.org . He has done a super job keeping it current with new and relevant content. He ensured that we all knew how to use Zoom for our virtual meetings. He has also volunteered to take on the role of Financial Secretary for the next 3 years and this has been accepted by Supreme Council. Steve definitely deserved this award.
The award was presented to Steve by DGK Tim Halderson and GK Pat Callaghan, with appropriate Pandemic precautions.

2018 - 2019

Tony Surette

Knight of the Year 2019 was awarded to Sir Knight Tony Surette PGK. Tony has been a Trustee for 2018/2019 and has taken an active and interested role in reviewing the financial activities of the council. Tony coordinated the annual K of C Garage Sale and has participated in several Knights activities including the semi-annual audits. He attends all of the monthly council meetings and offers his thoughts on various issues. He also helps out at our parish Masses when called upon. He speaks with the Grand Knight on a regular basis and is always available to help. The award was presented to Tony by GK Pat Callaghan. SK Tony Surette is very deserving of this award.
