2018 - 2019

Thomas Fagbamiye

Thomas is the living embodiment of what it means to serve Our Lord as a Knight of Columbus. He has been a 2-Term Grand Knight of our Council, as well as a 2-Term Faithful Navigator of the Mother Theresa Assembly 2562. He is our current Membership Director, as well as our 2nd Year Trustee. He sings with our Knights Choir and is our “Grand Knight” on our 1st Degree Team. As if that isn’t enough, he is also the current State Wheelchair Chairman.

Thomas spreads himself pretty thin when it comes to his church and community involvement. He is an Usher, Lector and an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion; as well as member of the St. Josephine Bakhita Ministry. In fact, he has been instrumental in coordinating a Mass and reception to celebrate her feast day at St. Theresa’s. He is also works regularly with the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Office of Intercultural and Ethnic Diversity where, among other activities, helps to plan their Pan African Catholic Organization of Atlanta (PACOA) Annual Mass and celebration, which is typically celebrated either by our Archbishop or one of the Auxiliary Bishops. He is on the committee to plan the Annual Martin Luther King Mass and Celebration, which is also celebrated by Archbishop Wilton Gregory every year.

Thomas is a prime example of a Catholic gentleman who genuinely exemplifies the spirit of Knighthood…. Charity, Unity and Fraternity. He tirelessly gives of himself and without question, deserves the honor of being our Council's Knight of the Year.

2017 - 2018

Lee Giles

Lee began his Knights of Columbus career in Texas where he was involved in Color Corp Ceremonial Drills for parades and the like, as well as various other council projects and programs.

He later moved to Georgia, where he continued his service at St. Catherine of Siena Council 9923, where he participated in Fish Fry’s, holiday dinners and other council functions. While he was there, he and his wife Diane taught in the Parish School of Religion and were Eucharistic Ministers.

When he moved to the Douglasville area, he again sought out servitude within the company of his brother Knights and transferred to the St. John Paul II Council; where he is a VERY active member.
He recently took the lead in our Annual Monastery Bake Sale, which we hold during the holiday season at St. Theresa of The Child Jesus Church. His coordinative efforts led to over $3,300.00 in sales that benefited the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers.

In addition to his Monastery Sale prowess, since he is retired, Lee regularly assists with many of the churches ongoing maintenance concerns/projects and makes himself available to the church office for impromptu needs; for example, transporting our pastor to/from an outpatient procedure. Along with his wife, he also participates in our ARISE program; which is a parish-centered process of spiritual renewal and evangelization that enables parishioners to deepen their faith, develop a closer relationship with Christ, grow in community and reach out in service to others. They have wholly committed themselves to this 3-year program and its semi-annual, 6-week sessions. They are also Eucharistic Minsters; all which validates his (their) dedication to one of our Supreme Office’s main focus, Building the Domestic Church. Finally, Lee accompanied our Life Teen Group on their Mission Trip to Tennessee this coming June, further demonstrating his dedication to the faith development of our youth.

Lee is a shining example of what it means to be a servant of the Lord. Congratulations Brother Lee!
