They both grew up in Oklahoma City and when Harold retired, they moved to Edmond to be
with family, friends and at St. John the Baptist Parish. They have been Parishioners at St
John’s twice, 1998 to 2003 when they were in Edmond for 5 years, and again from 2020 to
present since retirement.
Harold has worked for several companies including Engineering Positions at Western Digital,
Seagate, Control Data and Virtium with some consulting thrown in now and then.
Harold has been very active in the Knights and at St John’s. Harold participates in monthly
breakfasts, citizenship essay contest, soccer challenge, free throw championship, garage sale,
and the Intellectual Disabilities Drive (Tootsie rolls). Tom Mamer is suspecting that he has

choir member and is considering joining the choir.
When they first joined St. John’s Parish in 1998, Harold’s father-in-law, Richard Mills, had
been away from the Church since the mid-50’s. After discussing with Charlie Meiser and Fr. Louis Vander Lay, he and Deby attended RCIA with her father and stepmother. They both
joined St. John’s parish upon completion.
Shortly thereafter, Fr. John Petuskey had a vision to provide homes near St. John’s for
parishioners with special needs, and asked Harold’s father-in-law, a retired homebuilder, if
he would head up the project to refurbish and make handicap accessible a block of homes,
which he accepted. Today, this is St. John’s Way located north of East 12th St between
Broadway and Littler.
When I asked Harold how he spreads the Gospel he responded, “I’m always open to helping
non-practicing Catholics to come back home and invite them to mass or one of our parish

Please congratulate Jarid Kerwin as Knight of the Month for October 2023.
Jarid joined the Knights of Columbus in July 2022. He is Chairman of the Young Family Committee for Council 6477 and assists his Brother Knights on the Retention and Recruiting Committee.

He is originally from Fort Collins, Colorado, but Oklahoma is where he calls home. Jarid graduated from Mount St. Mary in 2012 and enlisted in the Air Force in January 2015 as a Crew Chief on the mighty C-130J Super Hercules.

He was medically retired after his second deployment to Afghanistan. Jarid relocated back to OKC, to establish permanent roots here so that his kids could grow up around family. Jarid is a single dad. His children are Kristofer and Carolyn, both students at SEAS and love it!
Professionally, he is in Medical Software Sales and functions as an Enterprise Platform and CRM system administrator. Jarid is a full-time dad, full-time sales professional, and part-time student. He is enrolled at OSU - Online, finishing up a business degree. Go Pokes!

He considers himself a revert to the Catholic Church, having undergone a crisis of faith from 2019-2021. Between the pandemic, advocating for religious freedoms in the military, and seeking answers after the withdrawal from Afghanistan, Jarid found himself back in communion with the One True Church on Easter 2022–when he first attended Mass at St. John’s.

Jarid has become very active since joining the Knights and the Parish. In addition to his work with the Young Family and Recruitment and Retention Committees; he is also a member of the Thursday Night Men of St John’s group and regularly covers the Watchdogs Mass-Day shift at SEAS. He recently joined Brother Knight Stephen Troy to teach confirmation prep on Wednesdays.
Jarid is a huge advocate for the true presence of the Eucharist, and he spends a considerable amount of time doing street apologetics– being open and honest about the Catholic Church, and his own faith journey, and defending the true presence of our Lord. He is particularly fond of the green scapular; if you need or want one, please ask. Jarid’s extra-parochial ministry involves creating rosaries to donate and designing Catholic-themed patches, stickers, and other promotional materials. He continually prays for vocations and the conversions of his Protestant brothers and sisters. He has regularly guided converts through discerning and to eventually joining the Church.
Jarid and his Family attend the Sunday 11:30 AM Mass, or Saturday 5:30 PM Mass. So, when you see him at Mass, say congratulations!

he said, “Nice Car”. Kacee asked their friend who Alan was, and they set a time to all meet the
next Friday night. His flight was late that Friday. (That was before cell phones) so, Kacee
thought he had blown it off.
When he got home from the airport at 8:30 he called their mutual friend. She told him that
Kacee had gone home but said tell him to come over. He, of course, rushed over.
Their first official date was to a nice restaurant for dinner. The next weekend they went to the

years old and will be in Pre-K at Seas.
When Alan was 27 years old, he was asked to become the new District Sales Manager for a
Pharmaceutical Company. He interviewed for a manager’s job not knowing if he would get it or to ask where the position would be. When they called and said congratulations you are
being promoted and the position is in OKC.
He remembers telling my boss. “I don’t really know how to manage people. I have never done it before”. His boss said shhh…. they don’t know that. So that my friends is how Alan came
to Oklahoma.
Alan has been a Full Time Realtor with Keller Williams, Downtown Edmond for 9 years. Every
year he wins awards as one of their top performers. His approach is to understand his client’s
needs before he recommends a property. Alan is one of the best at removing obstacles to the
sale.

the Parish. Alan serves as Eucharistic Minster and Usher. In addition, he is on the Parish
Property Board. Kacee participates in the Parish Adoration Hour.

“Sometimes I have “deep-thoughtful” discussions with my friends, family, and co-workers about my faith and the Gospel. (Challenge people’s belief in Faith). I try to give credit to God in all the things I do or give credit to those who helped. (Avoiding Pride). I pray and read in Adoration sessions after my mass at 11:30 AM from 1pm to 2pm on Sundays. (Humility and Prayer). I try to assist the homeless in Food Drive Events or by just giving them food or water to survive in the streets. (Charity). When I was in Texas A&M University, I helped with the Pancake Breakfast Days within the KOC, delivering free furniture to people that requested it, and sold chocolate to raise money for starving children in Africa. (Service). Me and my family give money and time to the Addi Faith Foundation which raises money for Kids with Cancer by doing Cross Country Running Events, Charity Sessions, and visiting children in need of hope. (Give Hope to the World). My father, Robert M.
