This energetic couple faithfully live out their catholicity to enrich the lives of others whether they closely know them or just met...

When an infirmed-scooter bound widow of a deceased Brother needed to relocate to a different state to be closer to relatives...he and a team of 6-10 knights made multiple month/visits to lighten her burden. They cleaned a shed and transported trash to the landfill; took photos of her furniture to list and sell via social media/public websites to lessen her moving footprint and raise funds; coordinated sales so to not jeopardize her safety and lastly secured a storage unit for unsold furniture awaiting sale.

This is the kind of dedication to family and community that this Knight Family fulfills each and every year and are truly deserving of the nomination and why they are our Family of the Year!

2018 - 2019

SK Bill & Linda O'Dell

Both family members are faithful parishioners who regularly attend Mass on Sundays, and whenever possible during the week. Our nominee is an Altar Server, Minister of Hospitality (Usher), Choir member, and assists with the Arts & Environment Ministry. Our nominee’s wife is Head of the Emergency Needs Ministry, a member of the Arts & Environment Ministry, and serves as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.

Our nominee regularly assists with the Council's semi-annual blood drives. Our nominee's spouse in her capacity as head of the Emergency Needs Ministry, assisted a Puerto Rican family dislocated by the recent hurricane and now living in our community to obtain a bed for their family of five at Christmas time. Both have spent significant time visiting and assisting the sick and homebound members of our Council and parish community.

Our nominee has served as the Council Lecturer for the past two years. He has brought to the Council many interesting, educational, and entertaining lectures about the history of Knights of Columbus as well as what it means to be a Knight. He brings the Council members into the lecture discussions, and led the discussion for Building a Better Council, which became the centerpiece of our Council's goals for this year. Our nominee agreed to fill the position of Publicity Chairman recognizing that improving our Public Relations was a key element coming out of our Building a Better Council discussions. He participates in all the Council's events, including Spaghetti Dinners, Parish Picnic, Oktoberfest, Father Daughter Dinner Dance, Soup Suppers, and Stations of the Cross. Our nominee is a 4th Degree Sir Knight and member of the local Assembly, where he serves as the Inner Sentinel. He is also an active member of the Assembly Color Corps and participates in almost all public events.
Our nominee's spouse is an active member of the KofC Ladies Auxiliary, currently serving as Treasurer. She assists with all Council and Assembly events requiring decorating and serving food.

Our nominee is one who selflessly sacrifices his time to serve his brother Knights. Although he already held an important Council position, he answered the call to serve as the Chairman of the Publicity Committee. This position has remained vacant for far too many years, and our Council's public relations has suffered for it, to the point of making recruitment of new members difficult. The nominee's efforts in filling this position have been instrumental in getting our Council's story out to the public, and raising the awareness level of all the things Knights of Columbus does for the parish and community. Our Family of the Year nominee's dedicated support and service to the Knights of Columbus, the Church, and parish community, is extensive and exemplary. Their continuing service reflects great credit upon themselves and our Council.
