2019 - 2020

Hank and Angel Krigbaum

One of the leading causes worldwide for the Knights of Columbus is our Pro-Life Movement. Since 1973, when abortion became legal, more than 60-Million babies have been aborted. Last year more than 10,000 abortions took place in the Minnesota. In the last hour, there have been more than 100 abortions in the U.S.

Why bring this up now? Because the Family of the year for 2019 is deeply committed to the pro-life movement. On the third Saturday of the month you’ll find Hank Krigbaum down in front of Planned Parenthood hoping to reach a young woman contemplating an abortion. In the middle of wintertime, or in the blazing heat of the summer Hank will be there. He and Angle are also members of the St. Gianni group at St. Philip’s. They were both on the Board of The Northwoods Pregnancy Care Center and actively support their efforts.
Of course, there’s more, Hank and Angel fought through the snow storms last year to attend our March for Life Meetings and were both instrumental in the success of the event. You will find Angel at the Fair Grounds supporting the MCCL Booth to bring awareness to the Pro-Life Movement.

Hank is also very visible at many of our KC events. He’s always out there cooking ribs, selling raffle tickets or hot dogs, and of course serving up pancakes. The 2019 Family of the year goes to Hank and Angel Krigbaum.

2018 - 2019

Ron and Brad Arel

This year Family of the Year goes to the Ron Arel and Brad Arel Family. As the Patriarch of the Family brother Ron is highly involved in nearly every aspects of the KC’s. Even with a couple of small health issues this last year, we can’t keep Ron down. He is instrumental in the development of our newsletter, BBQ Rib dinners, the Hot dog stand and more. Donna’s new job as the matriarch is to make sure Ron behaves.

Not to be outdone by his father, Brother Brad has jumped right in in many aspects of the KC’s including taking the lead on the Rib dinner. He and Monica are also instrumental in Adoration at St. Philips.

But it doesn’t end there. Anyone attending Mass at St. Philips will see Brad and Monica’s children actively involved in the church. I understand Matthew is planning to act as a junior counselor at youth camp this year.

This family represents what it means to be a good Catholic family and they certainly live their lives as an example of the pillars of our organization- Charity- Unity- Fraternity and Patriotism. Congratulations to the Arel Family! KC Family of the Year…
