HOLY FAMILY COUNCIL COUNCIL # 4879
FAMILIES OF THE MONTH

CLOSE THIS WINDOW

December 2022

Jacob and Melissa Quinton

Jacob and Melissa are members of St. Albert the Great Parish. They
have 3 children: Olivia (13), Nora (11) Callen (9).

This family is very intentional about always helping at St. Albert's parish events over the last few years- they’ve helped with events such as the annual picnic, weekend evangelization tables, family Olympics, etc.

Melissa is a volunteer on the Go Make Disciples Core Team, and has started a faith based small group for women at the parish. Olivia chose service over celebrating her 13th birthday, by volunteering to help at the Knights of Columbus Fish Fry last March. Olivia and Nora are both altar servers at Mass also.

November 2022

Mike and Linda Leggett

Both Mike and Linda are always willing to help out at St. Albert for any occasion. Linda is a volunteer altar server, takes communion to the sick and homebound, and also volunteers for hospice. She is in charge of “Art and Environment” always running out to buy new flowers and plants to decorate the church for the appropriate season. Both are weekly volunteers at the Sun Prairie Food Pantry as well as volunteer Ski Patrol. They often work the medical booth at area events. They give so much time to selflessly serve others, I can’t imagine how they find time to take care of themselves!

THANK YOU to the little kids who donated their piggy bank change (yes, really!) and small businesses who gave big in such a tumultuous year. Most of all, THANK YOU to my dear friend Peter Yelk who has been an advocate for decades to better Sun Prairie Parks. Our generous Matching Mystery Donor was an organization that Peter and a large handful of guys started in the early 90’s with the non-profit mission of making Sun Prairie parks better for all who visited. From buying and installing equipment to funding successful softball tournaments, this group of good guys did a lot of great things for Sun Prairie. As the group disbands this year and makes its final generous donation, I am truly honored that they chose the Sun Prairie Dream Park to add to their legacy. Over the winter, the Board will be working hard to put this money to good use installing new picnic tables, equipment, rubber flooring and more. Please reach out to the Sun Prairie Dream Park Board anytime with questions or improvement suggestions by visiting www.sunprairiedreampark.com.” Rebecca K Thank you, Pete, Tiffany, and Hannah, for your community efforts.

Some faith traditions in the family include, praying out loud, before meals, including those eaten out at restaurants. Additionally, they pray a weekly family rosary togeth-er, usually on Wednesday or Thursday evening. A favorite tradition is the Advent wreath, with scripture readings related to the Nativity story each Sunday during the Advent season. Another aspect of their faith is seen upon entering the front door of their home. A crucifix is prominently displayed with a holy water font just below it. This is to remind themselves that the home is the “church domestic” and to stay fo-cused on Christ.

Holly works as an Ultrasound Technician and Counselor at the Women’s Care Cen-ter of Madison. She served on the Diocese of Madison Pastoral Council for 4 years. She also has been a catechist for the religious education programs at both Sacred Hearts and Saint Albert’s.
