Paul Girolami Family

The Family of the Month is very special to our Council and is definitely worthy of this honor. The father Knight has been with our Council for 40 years. This family man is a very devoted and faithful to his wife, son and daughter. He is very proud and does everything he can to support and encourage them to be successful. This Knight is one of a kind and is in a very elite class. He has twice been a Grand Knight. That’s right, he has been the Grand Knight two different times, many years apart.

That is an one of a kind and an great accomplishment. I have so much respect for this kindhearted and very generous man. He is very dedicated to Rosensteel and has been a leader for many years. I had the pleasure to be one of his officers when he was last Grand Knight. So I have been following his lead for the last couple of years. I know him to be very passionate about the Knights of Columbus and is very loyal, dedicated and devoted to our brotherhood.

This past November his wife was called to Heaven by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was loved by all and many of us who attended the service heard many stories about her bigger than life spirit and warm heart. Her prayer card was the perfect card and read, “Grieve not… Nor speak of me with tears… But laugh and talk of me as though I were beside you. I Loved you so… Twas Heaven here with you.” God clearly needed another angel and I’m sure she’s watching and guiding her family every day. We will keep her in our prayers.

This very worthy Knight is so active. Just to list a few activities, he has his own Friday night kitchen crew; he’s a current trustee; played a leading role in organizing our 100th anniversary of Rosensteel; attends most meetings; he is always around the Council and takes my many phone calls. I very much appreciate all his advice and guidance over my Fraternal Year. This Knight has interviewed many of our new members and participated in our Nuns’ Appreciation Dinner. I could go on and on. Recently, he had a bad fall, for which he is still recovering, while delivering needed supplies to the Little Sisters of the Poor. He had an accident while unloading supplies and fell off the loading dock. I’m sure Barbara and his guardian angel were looking out for him. We are so blessed to have them in our family.

So when you see this 2X PGK, Trustee Paul Girolami, give him a big shout out and big round of applause for being part of this very worthy May Family of the Month. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Paul, you have played such a big role in the success we have had this year. I’m very thankful for all you do for us. Your faithfulness is much appreciated. We love you and loved Barbara. May God continue to bless you and your family.

April 2023

Dolleymore Family

The family of the month is very special
to our council. The father Knight has been with Rosensteel for almost
30 years. This family man has all three of his kids in college
and does everything he can do to support and encourage them to be
successful. Last fall I offered to take this Knight to a football game
and he declined. saying it would make him happy to see his son go
to the game instead of himself. I then invited his son instead and we
had a great time.
On St Patrick’s Day this Knight and others worked their butts
off for all of us to have a great time. Recently, Rosensteel provided
dinner for the University of Maryland Catholic Terps. I reached out
to him, and another new member and they both were able to help
deliver and serve other students. It was a great look for the Knights
of Columbus to have two of our very own serving their peers.
Our community is depending on us, When you see John and
James Dolleymore , please give them a big shout out and a big
round of applause for being the very worthy April Family of the
Month. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We Love both of you ,
we very much appreciate all you do for our family here at Rosensteel.
May God continue to Bless you and your family.

March 2023

Stan and Jane McLeod

This family is very special to our Council and the Knight is an Honorary Lifetime member of 40 years. That is straight up commitment and dedication. You can usually find this duo in the Knights Room at our Friday night dinners and once the game room is done, I’m sure they will be at the poker table. They are very active around the Council either volunteering to help or participating at many events. This couple is also known to help in the kitchen when needed. Recently, they helped run one of the biggest fundraisers for our Council. They do this every year and this year it was a huge success. I’m talking about the Super Bowl Party. This helps our Council by raising thousands of dollars for us to keep our charitable organization going. This is a big deal and no easy task.

Being around the Council, the more you see what a team effort that is going into all the organizations we support. It started back in September during our annual Council Picnic, collecting money and getting commitments for the Super Bowl pool. It’s really a great idea, dinner and drinks are included with your ticket for a chance to win some of the more than $5,000 that is given away. At this year’s party there was over 100 people with lots of love, good cheer and joy in the air. Having the party down in the Knights Room and Emerald Room was a great idea as well. So much good food, Kansas City chili with all the works, chicken wings, salad, shrimp, pulled pork, bbq, turkey, sausage and peppers, nacho bar and steak and cheese subs and more. It was so good and yummy!

This fundraiser was all started by this family years ago as far as I can remember and it brings families together from our Council. All your commitment and dedication continues to grow and all your time and effort is very much appreciated. I want to acknowledge all the contributions you and your family does for Rosensteel. Thank you, thank you, thank you very much!

This family is setting an example of what we can do by coming together and uniting as one to make a difference. Our community is counting on us. When you see Stan and Jane McLeod, please give them a big shout out and a big round of applause for being the March Family of the Month. We love both of you, we thank you and we very much appreciate all you do for our family here at Rosensteel. May God continue to bless you and your family.

February 2023

Rick and Angela Colburn

The Family of the Month is very special to our Council and is known to everyone at Rosensteel. We are very blessed to have them and I’m thankful for all they do for us. Since the beginning of my fraternal year they have been helping and or participating in most of our events. This family has three daughters, each of whom is out of college; two are married and one of them is expecting her first grandchild. How special is that? We are honored to have this Knight as part of our team, he just celebrated his 10th anniversary and is one of our Guards and attends almost every business meeting. As Grand Knight, that means so much to me, he is always there to help me when he can. Over time, I have come to know this Knight as a real family man. I very much appreciate him and our friendship and all his words of encouragement. His wife is the current secretary to the principal of St. John the Evangelist School. So you know she has a big heart helping the principal in caring for and giving guidance to the children and working for their best interest.

Around the Council this couple is active. The Knight is on at least one kitchen crew and recently I have noticed both of them helping out at the Friday Night family dinner. This couple is a lot of fun. At most events you can find them on the dance floor. At the Pro-life dinner held just a couple of weeks ago they were there early helping to prepare the spaghetti and meatball dinner and helped serve about 100 people. It was a wonderful 5-star Rosensteel event and this family played an active role in making it a huge success. At the end of the event down in the Knights Room, there they were, just finishing up. It’s so rewarding at the end of a successful event to sit back and enjoy all the dedication and commitment to make sure others had a good time. GREAT JOB!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This family is setting an example of what we can do working together to help one another. Our community is counting on us. We can always count on them. When you see Rick and Angela Colburn around the Council, please give them a big shout out and a huge round of applause for being the February Family of the Month. We love you, we thank you and we very much appreciate all you do for our family here at Rosensteel. May God continue to bless you and your family

January 2023

The Madox Family

The Family of the Month is very special to our Council and is known to everyone at Rosensteel. We are very blessed to have them and I’m very thankful for all they do for us and since the beginning of my Fraternal Year they have been playing a large role in the success of our events. The Knight has been at Rosensteel for 13 years and a couple of years ago stepped up and became one of our officers starting as our Warden. He has been very active supporting me in my role as Grand Knight and we talk often. Thanks for taking all my calls and responding to messages, I very much appreciate your opinions and guidance. Many times over the last six months he has reached out to me and we have met to discuss to see how he can help me out to lighten the load. We have developed a nice friendship doing many things outside of our Council. We have gone to multiple football games, we’ve been out to dinner, we’ve been boating, and he and his wife introduced me to a winery just outside of Ocean City. Building friendships and brotherhood is so important to the success of our very fine family organization. Over time, getting to know this Knight I have come to know this Knight is a real family man. I very much appreciate him and our friendship and all the words of encouragement.

As our program director he has taken an active role in programs such as the cash raffle and Tootsie Role campaigns and is currently working on another coat drive. He will also be leading, promoting and organizing a very worthy event, our Father-Daughter dance on Friday, February 17. Oh, and by the way, he’s currently our Deputy Grand Knight, so in six months he will be leading Rosensteel. I have great respect for him and know in my heart he will do an outstanding job. He has been beside me, supporting and guiding me. We have a great team here and I’m very grateful to have him as my deputy.

His wife is a new Maryknight and is getting more involved. The more I get to know her, it didn’t take long to realize she is very loving and dedicated to her family. She works with kids at St John Evangelist School so you know she has a big heart. When this couple isn’t volunteering, they have participated by attending some of our events like the lobster seafood feast fund-raiser and frequently at the Friday night family dinner. Their son has just recently signed up to join the Knights of Columbus and we will be voting on him at the January Business Meeting. I’m looking forward to seeing him around the Council.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love this family very much and will do everything I can to help support him and promote their events in the future. When you see the Maddox family, Mike, Amy and Kieran, around the Council, please give them a big shout out for being the very worthy January Family of the Month. We love you, we thank you and we very much appreciate and acknowledge all that you do for our family here at Rosensteel. May God continue to bless you and your family.

December 2022

The Donnelly Family

The Family of the Month is very loved and special to our Council. We are very blessed to have them and I’m very thankful for all they do for us. Since the beginning of my fraternal year this family has been one that I’ve always been able to count on to make our events and programs a big success. The more that I’m around the Council the more that I see them in action and all they contribute to our community with their time and talents. I can’t say enough about this family, but I will give it a shot. When I think of them as a family, I think of love, leadership and family. Strong families lead by example, they have a warmth, all caring for others and have strong connections to others outside of their family. They create a sense of belonging, sharing their love and make people feel valued and committed to getting the job done. This family inspires others to work toward a common good and demonstrates integrity. We are truly blessed to have them.
The father has been a Knight for 35 years and his wife is an active Maryknight. At a recent Council event both husband and wife worked behind the bar serving guests. Their daughter-in- law assisted with their granddaughter helping serve guests for a CYO spaghetti dinner fundraiser. This event wasn’t planned for our Council, but SJE had a heating issue and Rosensteel stepped up and helped make this event a success at the last moment for about 125 parents and students. I’m very proud of this family and our Council for this is what the Knights of Columbus are about.

It’s hard to list all the things this family does. I’ve seen them working in the kitchen for Friday night dinners, helping with landscaping around the Council, making desserts, I could go on and on. Their son has been someone I can always count on. I’m a huge fan of this amazing family man. He is a true leader and inspires me to do more. He leads the Building Committee, that in itself is a big responsibility. We are working together to get the game room done. Recently, he ordered at a discount new tile for room matching the Knights Room and picked up and delivered, saving us so much money. He drove down to Tilghman Island to pick up four bushels of fresh oysters for our lobster seafood feast; in fact, last week he drove back to Tilghman Island to pick up more oysters for our Thanksgiving smoker. Always going the extra mile because he’s committed to making a difference and sharing all the love he has to give others. That is why I joined this very fine family organization. I heard there were a lot of good men here. This is a great example of what’s going on here at Rosensteel.

When you see the Donnelly family, Mike, Bonnie, Dave, Jamie and Kaitlyn, give them a big shout out for being the very worthy December Family of the Month. We love you, we thank you and we very much appreciate and acknowledge all that you do for our family here at Rosensteel. You’re making a HUGE difference! May God continue to bless you and your family.

November 2022

Maryknights Family

The Family of the Month is very special to our Council. We are very blessed to have them and I’m very thankful for all they do for us. Since the beginning of my fraternal year this family has been one that I’ve always been able to count on to make our events a big success. Having a very special team that we turn to again and again is not to be
taken for granted. We very much appreciate all your generosity, thoughtfulness, and giving of your time and talents that God has gifted each and every one of you.

We know this family is very special to us and I wanted to take this opportunity let you know that all your efforts are making a HUGE success here at Rosensteel. From the installation to the 100th anniversary celebration, this family helped organize, donated and planned these events, paying much attention to all the details needed for memorable events. This family not only supports us but actively promotes us. Basically, they make us look good and it’s very
heartwarming to have this family by my side. Recently, at the lobster seafood feast fundraiser, this family was absolutely critical to my first fundraiser. One family member bought tickets to donate to less fortunate to support our event.

How thoughtful was that! They helped organize and sell the cash raffle board which was a great success, raising about $1,500 in donations. They did an AWESOME JOB! I could not have done this on my own.
I can’t put my feelings into words how much this family means to me. This family supported the event by actively promoting and participating in this event, inviting friends and family, making desserts and checking guest in. I could go on and on. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love this family very much and I will do everything I can to help support and promote their events. Clearly, we have angels among us and we are very blessed to have them. When you see any of the Maryknights at Rosensteel, please congratulate them on being the very worthy November Family of Month. We love you, we thank you and we very much appreciate and acknowledge all that you do for us. Thank you
and may God bless you and your families.

October 2022

Weithman/Horner Family

Family of the Month goes to the Weithman/Horner family. I very much appreciate this family. Michael Weithman donated some very generous gifts for the 50/50 raffle at the picnic such as headphones, gym bag, backpack and a couple of Echo dots, just to name a few. Mike has been participating in our happy hour/social events and giving me advise on our young adults committee and ideas on recruiting new members. Thanks Mike, I very much appreciate you. His sister, Melissa Weithman, has played an active role in our young adults committee and, although we got off to a slow start, the committee has many great ideas such as a younger adult kitchen crew with some fresh new ideas for dinner. I look forward to working with Melissa and Mike on the new game room that is being renovated.

Their uncles Rick and Gerry Horner have also played important roles in the past month. Rick traveled from his home in Ocean City to help set up and prepare food for our picnic. It’s a team effort, but I very much appreciate Rick for his dedication to making this event a success. His brother Gerry has played a very important role in my fraternal year. We talk often and has helped me in many ways, especially communicating to our membership what is important to me. At the recent SJE picnic, again a team effort, Gerry helped organize the food preparation, serve and brought a new prospect to volunteer at the picnic. Gerry is on our Membership Retention and Recruitment Committee, working on ideas to re-engage our current members and helping to recruit new members. Melissa, Mike, Rick and Gerry, thank you, thank you, thank you! You are making a HUGE difference here at Rosensteel and mean so much to me. I love you and wish you and your family well.

September 2022

Terrence and Cheryl Moore

Family of the Month goes to Terrence and Cheryl Moore. They are very worthy of this honor. Terrence and Cheryl are very active at our Council. Terrence played a role in getting me re-engaged at Rosensteel, asking me to join a committee and from there I continued my journey to become an officer and eventually the Grand Knight. He is a leader and we speak frequently, he continues to encourage and guide me with support and new ideas.

Cheryl is an active Maryknight and works as a team with her husband. Both participate in our Friday night family dinners and sends e-mails promoting our dinners and other upcoming events. Terrence is very active behind the scenes on our event planning committee and Clubhouse. When I’m at the Council he’s frequently there showing our Columbian Room to prospective guests and preparing for events. Recently, they cooked meals for our Council Installation, Maryknights anniversary party and the Past State Deputy testimonial dinner for Vince Grauso for about 180 people. At our Installation when Donna and I finally got a chance to eat, most of the food was gone and Cheryl and Terrence prepared us some food.

I also received a letter from a patron who had a baptism being held at the same time as the testimonial dinner. The gentleman was so impressed with the personal service and attention to detail that they wrote a letter of highest recommendation and gratitude to both Cheryl and Terrence. So if you see them around the Council, which won’t be difficult, please congratulate them on being Family of the Month

August 2022

Jason and Mary Webb

My choice for Family of the Month goes to worthy Jason Webb and his wife, Mary. They have a son, Ethan, who is 8 and a daughter, Nora, who is 6. Worthy Jason Webb is our new family director. He and Mary couldn’t be more excited to help strengthen families and attract more families to come to our Council events.

His enthusiasm is contagious and that’s coming from myself who gets excited about many things. We have had dinner together and have met privately about his new position and ideas. He plans to work with
Worthy Mike Beane about coming up with a kids meal to be available for the Friday night dinners. Jason and Mary are beginning to look at ideas for the kids for the up-coming Council Picnic on Saturday, September 18. I feel confident they will make a difference here at Rosensteel. If you see them around the Council congratulate them for being our Family of the Month.

June 2022

Maryknight and Council Member Volunteers

Always ready with words of support. Literally several hundreds of volunteer hours. Wisdom greatly appreciated by the Grand Knight and officers. Our Family of the Month for June is our Maryknights and Council members who selfishly gave their time, effort and talent to improving our programs and Council home this fraternal year. You really
don't know the positive impact your generosity has on the Grand Knight and his team and I thank you for it.

April 2022

The Holy Family

When we reflect and look for a perfect example of family life, selflessness, sacrifice and love this one shines above all. This family is always there for us and never fails. While we prepare for Easter, take time to give thanks to this family for being there for us and showing us the way. Join me in giving thanks to the Holy Family.

March 2022

Geoff and Ann Conway

This Knight seems to be behind many of the major actions at the Council, whether it’s volunteering, facilities projects, events or celebrations. He is at the Council countless hours and his wife is known as a saint; that description no one disputes. Please join me in thanking Geoff Conway and his incredibly understanding wife Ann for their endless efforts and time supporting our Council.

February 2022

Gus and Ruth Gusman

This couple has been active on all levels working and guiding the Council affairs. This Knight provides oversight and review of our Council operations, while serving on various programs. His guidance and commitment to our Council is one to follow. His wife is active with the Maryknights, serving on committees and events. Join me in thanking Gus and Ruth Gusman for all of their efforts and commitment!

January 2022

Mike, Bonnie and Dave Donnelly

I have been focusing on families that have generational Knights. It is a classic handing of the baton from father to son that shows unity … a cornerstone of our Council life.

This family seems to always be together, serving or enjoying Friday
night dinners, attending or serving at Council functions, supporting
the Maryknights activities, and even elbow grease to fix and repair the building. When they come to enjoy Council life, it’s the whole family from grandparents to grandchildren. Please join me in thanking and congratulating the Donnellys (Mike, Bonnie, and Dave) as January’s Family of The Month.

December 2021

Tim and Donna Stocker

This month we have a dynamic couple who volunteer at the Council and support each other in their efforts. He is one of our Council officers, soon to be GK. She is very active with the Maryknights. Always in the mix of getting it done, if you want to know … just ask Tim or Donna “What’s Going On.” Thank you, Tim and Donna Stocker, for all your work and support to the Council and Maryknights

November 2021

Kevin and Mary Carey

This member has an action packed schedule at the Council. His wife deserves many thanks for her support and understanding his time away from home. He is our financial secretary, has served on other boards, runs Council programs and somehow always has a smile. Help me say a big thank you to our Family of the Month, Kevin and Mary Carey!

October 2021

The Steve Caffi Family

When this family comes out, it’s the whole family. They can be found volunteering for the major events and at the recent picnic they were truly representing across generations. Rosensteel has had a history of family participation and this family gets it. Many thanks to Steve Caffi and his family for all of their efforts and carrying on the tradition!

September 2021

Terrence and Cheryl Moore

This family of the month has been here before but that just how they ride. They are a team and surely without the support of his wife, this
Knight could not get things done for the Council. You can see them in the kitchen, running events or helping to guide management.

Please give a big thank you to Terrence and Cheryl Moore.

July 2021

Rosenteel Family

This family is everywhere doing everything and when you least expected … they dosomething extraordinary. When the Council was closed, they were there to clean and set up policies and protocol.
When food was to be made for the Holy Cross nurses, they were cooking and delivering. When we need hands for events to save money, they were there to serve. They sit on committees and make sure the place is running. If you have not been to the Knights Room in a while, you will see their craft, dedication and passion in the renovations!
They don’t seek the limelight … they are the “No Names, No Need … Just Deeds” band of brothers that just make it happen.

June 2021

Officer past and present and all other volunteers.

You regularly see this Catholic gentleman at the Council, working on projects including cleanup, cooking, shopping for Friday Night dinners and renovation of the Knights Room, kitchen hallway and ladies room downstairs. He’s an accomplished chef, head of a kitchen crew and always offers an excellent meal. He took his first degree in April 2010. He was sponsored by Geoff Conway. Our Knight of the Month for June is Chris Langley. Many thanks, Chris, for your hours of service to our Council. And thank you to Tina, with whom I had the privilege to work when she met Chris, and their chil-dren Nick and Ellie for allowing us to have Chris’s time.

May 2021

Kitchem Crews and Servers

You see them at the Council every Friday night when you pick up your dinners. They work hard to make your evening a bit easier. There’s usually is no break in service. They’re in the kitchen rain or shine. A tasty, enjoyable dinner – some of which are very creative – is waiting for you. This family’s service dates back many years. Our family of the month for May is our kitchen crews and servers. They, along with our Friday night Rosary crew, make our Council the place to be every Friday night. Have you considered forming or joining a crew? Help is always needed. See one of the crews or coordinator Terrence Moore for more information.

April 2021

Our Maryknights

A tireless, truly dedicated family. You see them at all Council events. Their spirit of charity is unparalleled. They are always working to make lives better for others. Their faith is strong, as is their voice and impact. They are recognized throughout the Maryland Knights of Columbus for their excellence in service. Our Council couldn’t function well without them. Our Family of the Month for April 2021 is our own Maryknights, some of the finest women our Council has had the privilege to know and work with on our social and charitable programs.

Thank you, Maryknights, for your prayers, hard work and unwavering support.

March 2021

The Holy Family

Our Family of the Month is celebrated throughout our Council and throughout the world. The Holy Family of the infant Jesus, Virgin Mary and St. Joseph serve as a role model for Christian families and individuals. The Holy Family is a symbol of love of family and that we should be open to whatever God’s will might be. February is the month dedicated to the Holy Family, but we should pray for their guidance throughout the year.

During this month, please say this short prayer to renew our dedication to the Holy Family: “Lord, You intended for the Holy Family to be an example for all, and for the Holy Spirit to enlighten our homes.
May we, like them, be able to live according to the family virtues and stand united by the strength of Your love before meeting again for eternity in the joy of Your House. Amen.”

February 2021

The Horner Brothers

Both are highly regarded members of the Rosensteel family and have been contributing to programs for years – as cooks, working events, helping at the Convention and that’s just to start. They’ve been volunteering at Father Rosensteel Council since they were children – both as part of their larger family and on their own and have now created their own legacy of service to our Council and community.
Both also support the Council through financial donations. Great smiles, great laughs, great personalities and always appreciated. Of course, we’re talking the brothers Rick and Gerry Horner. Rick recently helped at a Veterans Day event and at other Council programs; Gerry masterfully arranges and hosts our award-winning Nuns Appreciation Night and jumps in elsewhere throughout the year. We’re a better Council because of these two men. Please congratulate our Family of the Month – the Horner brothers.

January 2021

Friends of the Knights Room

They’re a family related by Catholic faith and dedication of service to our Council. You see them at several Council events, but most recently they’ve contributed hours and dollars to remodeling the Knights Room, bringing it up to code from its last update in the 1970s. New flooring, walls, electrical outlets and wiring, improved wifi, furniture, painting, a crucifix and Holy Family carving for the Knights Room, and more – you’ll truly be pleased and amazed at the hard work that’s gone into remodeling the area.

All of this work is being paid for through donations and doesn’t involve any funding from the Council or its associations. And the work continues as a result of the leak in the downstairs ladies’ rest room and damage to the hallway - new floors and walls, improved spacing, new ceiling tiles and new lights.

Our January Family of the Month is the Friends of the Knights Room – the women and men who have donated dollars to funding these projects and the many men who have personally performed the remodeling, including Spike Holmes, Dave Donnelly, Geoff Conway, Brian McCaw, Nick Carrescia, Pierre Cassagnol, Kevin Carey, Chris Langley, JC. Butts, Abe Jacobs and Bruce Cotting (with apology to those workers I may have missed). Donations permitting, the crew will look at improvements to the Emerald Room and downstairs men’s bathroom.

December 2020

All Our Council Supporters

It is a tireless family – working every program, being very involved in parish activities, supporting their priests, reaching out into the community, sharing their faith and selflessly serving others. It continually looks for new programs and people to help. It has developed a legacy of service and commitment that’s difficult to imagine in other Councils – and it has been doing it for 100 years. It is a true family to each other and our greater community.

Our Family of the Month is the dedicated thousands of men, women and children who have worked at, attend-ed and/or supported our Council since 1920. Our Council couldn’t be where it is today without the strong Knights, Maryknights and Squires who have graced our halls for the past century. The officers of Father Rosensteel Council thank our large family for the many thou-sands of hours of service to Church and Community this past century and look forward to continuing this strong Rosensteel family for another 100 years.

November 2020

Jane and Stan McLeod.

You see them nearly every Friday night at our family dinners at the Council. Both bartend from time to time. Both were on a kitchen crew. She sells Super Bowl squares, he help with food and both organize. He’s been a member since the early 1980s. Their son is a member of our Council. Our superstar Family of the Month for November is Jane and Stan McLeod. Congratulations, Stan and Jane.

October 2020

Barbara and Bill Dassing

They can be seen on our Friday night kitchen crews and volunteering at other Council events throughout the year. He fills in as a bartender. She also bar-tends special events such as the Super Bowl. Both are regulars at our Washington Football Team games at the Council. She’s known for her work with a needle and yarn. Both help direct our children’s parties and work children’s activities at our Council Picnic.

Thank you to our Family of the Month – Barbara and Bill Dassing.

September 2020

Bonnie and Mike Donnelly

This truly worthy Family of the Month is a fixture at our Council. They can be seen volunteering at events throughout the year. He’s been a member of our Council since March 1987. Most recently, he was an officer of our Clubhouse Association and third base coach of the Council softball team. He jumps in wherever he’s needed. She’s a member of a kitchen crew and a bartender at the Super Bowl party. They attend most events and are regulars at our Friday Night dinners. Father Rosensteel Council is a better place because of them – Bonnie and Mike Donnelly, our Family of the Month.

August 2020

Carol and Joe Walper

You see them at all Council events. He makes a killer eggnog. She’s a recent Maryknights officer, works on the best kitchen crew at the Council and bar-tends at the Super Bowl party. They regularly attend Friday night dinners and football game days at the Council. They embody the spirit of Father Rosensteel Council through their faith and community sharing. Our Council is better for having them here
.
Please congratulate Carol and Joe Walper for being our Au-gust Family of the Month.

July 2020

Ruth and Gus Gusman

This family continues to be very active at our Council. She’s a Maryknight and is spearheading their production of face masks for our Council and community. Both have helped Sue Wiant with the gardening redesign and planting at the front of the Council. He’s a Council officer and most recently served as Grand Knight. Both are friends of the Rosensteel family and have become very dear friends to my wife and me. I now get to take his parking spot at the Council.

When you see Ruth and Gus Gusman, thank them for their service to Father Rosensteel Council and for being our Family of the Month.

June 2020

The Mannion Family

The Father Rosensteel Family of the Month is familiar to all. He is a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and his wife is a Maryknight. He has tended bar, worked in the kitchen and worked recently on the landscaping, among other endeavors. He is a Past Grand Knight and Trustee.

Most recently, the entire Mannion household has been working diligently on the face-mask program. They are a very warm and charitable family and we are lucky to have them participating here at the Council. So when you see or speak with Jim, Terry or Mary, our Father Rosensteel Family of the Month, thank them for their contributions to the Council!

May 2020

Father Rosensteel Council Officers, Trustees and Past Grand Knights

- The Father Rosensteel Council April Family of the Month has a long history with the Council. You will find them participating at the Council
Picnic, Friday night dinners and all the dinners and events. Most recently, almost the entire Family attended the Past Grand Knights’ Testimonial Dinner. And they would have made a strong appearance at the Nuns’ Appreciation Dinner. They are stalwarts of our Council and to be commended for their participation.

Their collective wisdom, participation and institutionalknowledge is priceless. They have been invaluable to me during this Fraternal Year. Yes, of course, I am talking about the Father Rosensteel Council Officers, Trustees and Past Grand Knights. After travelling and visiting other Councils, we are fortunate to have so many involved and
generous with their time and wisdom. When you see any Trustee, Past Grand Knight, Officer (including Guards, Recorder and Financial Secretary) or Committee Chair, give them a (virtual) pat on the back and let us express our gratitude for all that they do!

April 2020

Table 21

The Father Rosensteel April Fam-ly of the Month has a long history with the Council. You will find these family members participating at the Council Picnic, Friday night dinners and most all of the dinners and events. Most recently, they attended the Past Grand Knights’ Testimonial Dinner. They are stalwarts of our Council and to be commended for their participation.

So, when you see or talk to “Table 21,” congratulate them on being the Father Rosensteel April Family of the Month: Nancy and Ray Koski, Bob and Ann Brown, Harry and Marie Dunkel, Dave and Marge Fait, Betty Beltz and Tom Hawes.

March 2020

Stan and Jane McLeod

The March Father Rosensteel Family of the Month is active throughout the Council. It has worked in the kitchen, from Friday night dinners to catering events. It chairs one of the Council’s most favorite and
longstanding events – the Super Bowl Party. And he and she have been known to spin old-school 45’s. He has been a member since 1982, she has supported the Maryknights and their son is also a member of the Father Rosensteel Council.

So when you see Stan and Jane McLeod, thank them for their years of service and dedication. And congratulate them for being the Father Rosensteel Family of the Month!

February 2020

The Maryknights

The February Father Rosensteel Council Family of the Month is big. It is large in numbers, large in heart and huge in what it contributes. It can be found at almost all of our functions. I cannot and do not want to imagine what our Council would be like without them. PGK Bruce, DGK Paul and I met with them last month to thank them for all that they do! I specifically mentioned the NCPD Event where Supreme Knight Carl Anderson received an award
.
So when you see any of our Maryknights, give them a huge thank you and congratulate them for being the Father Rosensteel Family of the Month! We are a better Council and we are better Knights for all of their support throughout the years. And let me give a special thanks to
my favorite Maryknight, my wife Lady Ruth. I am a better man and a better Knight because of her.

Much gratitude and love to all our Maryknights!

January 2020

Mike and Katie Koon

This Father Rosensteel Family of the Month has been very prominent for years at our Council. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1975 and his wife has been a Maryknight for many years. He is a past Grand Knight, a member of the Fourth Degree and is currently our financial secretary. They have been chairing the Right To Life Kickoff Program for over 20 years, taking the baton from Chuck Suraci. And not only did he attend the seminary, but he is an avid outdoorsman. Their son plays on the Council softball team and they can be seen cheering at every game.

When you see Mike and Katie Koon, congratulate them for being the Family of the Month. And don’t miss out on their Right To Life Kickoff Dinner on January 5.

December 2019

The Dassing Family

This couple can be found at Father Rosensteel Council supporting and attending most events. He is a Third Degree Knight who joined when he was 18 years old. His son is a Second Degree Knight who also joined at age 18. His wife is a Maryknight as is their daughter. They work on one of the Friday night kitchen crews, co-chair the children’s Halloween, Christmas and Easter parties and you may find him tending bar. Again, a family with deep roots and part our longstanding foundation of Father Rosensteel Council.

When you see Billy, Barbara, Joe and Victoria Dassing, congratulate them on being the Family of the Month and thank them for their
contributions over the years.

November 2019

John and Mary Lyon

This couple can be found at Father Rosensteel Council supporting most all events when in town. He is an Honorary Life Member and joined the
Council in 1979. He is a Third Degree Knight and has performed at many events over the years, St. Patty’s Day and the Council picnic to name just a couple.

This couple are true stalwarts of Father Rosensteel Council. When you see John and Mary Lyon, congratulate them on being the Family of the Month and thank them for their contributions over the years.

October 2019

Morgan Family

This family has deep roots at Father Rosensteel Council. He joined in 1963, is a Fourth Degree Knight, a Past Grand Knight, was active in promoting the Capital Improvement Fund, is a member of the retirees bowling league, was on the Bingo Committee and has been active in most all of the programs throughout the years. His wife is a Maryknight and, like their daughter and son-in-law, they met at the Council. Their son-in-law is a Knight and their granddaughters are a fixture at Keep Christ in Christmas and Easter Party events and have even
joined John Lyon in performing. Most recently, this family was instrumental (excuse the pun) in the King Soul performance in September.

So when you see SK PGK Dave “The Captain” Morgan, Virginia Morgan, Brian and Lisa Slattery, and Morgan and Karen, congratulate them and give them a big thanks for being the Father Rosensteel Council
Family of the Month!

September 2019

Mulholland Family

The Knight for this Family of the Month joined Father Rosensteel Council in September 2004. His son Peter was an altar server, Squire and is now a senior in college and a Knight. Son Nick is in college and has been a Squire and altar server. Eddie is in college, a Squire and altar server; daughter Bridget is in high school and a Rose and altar server; Quinn is an altar server and we have Reagan coming up the ranks.
We were fortunate to have Bridget and Quinn serve as altar servers at our recent Officers Installation Mass. So when you see Bill Mulholland and any of the family, congratulate them and give them a big thanks for being the Father Rosensteel Council Family of the Month!

August 2019

Donnelly Family,

Members of the August Family of the Month are longstanding contributors to Father Rosensteel Council. They can be seen at the Council on a regular basis. All three have worked on kitchen crews
in addition to participating in a variety of under-the-radar volunteer efforts. Mike and son Dave participate on the Rosensteel softball team and can be seen with grandson Logan on the bench (how’s that for three generations!). And they have stepped up and agreed to serve on the Clubhouse Committee. And wife/mother Bonnie is a longstanding Maryknight.

So the next time you see the Donnelly Family, congratulate
them and thank them for their service to the Council

July 2019

St. Bernadette's, St. Johan the Evangelis and Christ the King Parishes

Father Michael J. McGivney saw a need for Catholic families within his New Haven, Connecticut, parish in 1882. He founded the Knights of Columbus to address this need and to be the vehicle that would help parish families. This makes perfect sense, as families are the core of a parish.

Most Councils are linked with a single parish and share parish facilities to carry out its works of charity. Father Rosensteel Council, on the other hand, is an independent Council supporting three parishes. One tool that the Council uses is a parish roundtable, designed to interact with the respective pastors. The July “Families” of the month are the Father Rosensteel Council supported parishes: St. Bernadette’s, St. John the Evangelist and Christ the King. We will continue our support as Father
McGivney would have wanted.

June 2019

2018-19 Fraternal Year Council Program Chairs and Directors

Grand Knights are told that this group is their right hand. They are a reason why the Fr. Rosensteel Council succeeds in whatever it takes on. Many of them have chaired or directed a program or theme but also run events or activity many times currently and in the past. In most cases they are a Past Grand Knight and/or they have a passion for an activity
that they have a talent for. They are a Program Director, Church Chair, Church Director, Community Director, Faith Director, Life Director, a Family Director. There are Directors of Membership, Recruitment and Retention. There are Directors for Public Relations, Communications, Webmaster, Sick and Deceased, and Vocations and Convention Delegates.

They are this Month’s Family of the Month, the 2018-19 Fraternal Year Council Program Chairs and Directors. See them listed on page two of your Knight Life and thank them for their help.

May 2019

Council Softball Team

They practice Fraternity, a pillar of the Knights of Columbus, when they play. They aren’t the Sultans of Swat. What they do I once talked about it being compared to Catholicism. They play and represent the Council every Sunday between Memorial and Arbor Day. I’m sure they pray and light a candle at Mass before they get in their uniform. It can’t hurt their cause. They give their Time and Talent for the Council. They don’t have names like “Mike Trout” or “Anthony Rendon,” but they try just as hard and show the community what the Rosensteel Council represents.

They are Manager Spike Holmes, Asst. Manager Wayne Miller, Art
Paholski, Abe Jacobs, Chris Mulholland, Peter Mulholland, Rob Walper, Dave Donnelly, Doug Donnelly, Geoff Conway, Mike Maddox, Dan O’Donoghue, Tony Zanger, David Bierwirth, Phil Meyer, Mike Beane, Ed, Ken and Brian McCaw, Jim Mazzara, Kevin Koon, Michael Pryor, Nick Carrescia and Michael Ward. They are this Month’s Family of the Month, the Council Softball Team.

April 2019

Rosensteel Retiree’s Mixed Duckpin Bowling League.

This family is in a league of its own, consisting of about 50 strong Catholic Brother Knights, Maryknights and friends. They are early risers every Thursday from September through early May. Nothing starts before remembering those who need their healing prayers. Once that is done it’s not all business as every-one can be heard cheering each other’s successes. Staying out of the gutter can be a challenge and the morning is not complete until Tim Moriarty shouts out, “You gotta hit them!”

No, the sport is not boxing, but references have the sport’s start dating back to the time of the founding of the Knights of Columbus and in the same city. They are in the community representing what is good about the Father Rosensteel Council. This Month’s Family of the Month is the Rosensteel Retiree’s Mixed Duckpin Bowling League.

March 2019

Terrence and Susan Brady

-This Family of the Month does more than just be seen at the Council. He is an officer serving as an Outside Guard. In 2012 he became a Knight and in 2015 became a Sir Knight in the Cardinal O’Boyle Assembly #386.

He gives much of his time at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception serving as an usher, volunteers at events and was a reliable member of Al Wigmore III’s bingo team for a number of years. His wife can be seen supporting and volunteering around the Council and she has a strong stance for the God-given rights of newborn children. Please congratulate Terrence “Burr” Brady, Council Guard and his wife,Susan, as the Rosensteel Family of the Month for March 2019.

February 2019

Joe and Patricia McAlaren

This family is “all in” at Rosensteel. They have been a Rosensteel family since 2013. They immediately began to use their gifts of time, talent and treasure for the Council. One is a Council Officer and, in the words of the Financial Secretary, “keeps me in check” (no pun intended). He also gives his time to be an usher at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Both he and his wife have been regular attendees at Council events, including Friday Family Rosary. Recently, they moved across the Potomac River to Virginia to be with family. Please congratulate Joe McAlarnen, Council Treasurer, and his wife Patricia as the Rosensteel Family of the Month for February 2019.

January 2019

Right to Life Family

"Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it re-mains forever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being."

Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of its existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person - among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.

The Rosensteel Council holds special the Right to Life Family. They are Rosensteel’s Family of the Month.

December 2018

John and Mary Lyon

Their involvement at the Council goes back to 1979. I got to know them when I was the Council Warden in 2015. I was told to ask him to play music at the Council Picnic. Since then I’ve gotten to know them very well spending time in the Knights’ Room. They both volunteer together behind the bar on a Friday Night. At many Council functions you see them helping out. When not volunteering they show their support by attending events. When you see John and Mary Lyon congratulate them as the December Family of the Month.

November 2018

Bob and Ann Brown

You see them at every Council and Maryknight event (but maybe not the beach party). They are card carrying members of the “Table 21 Gang.” Ann is a Maryknight; Bob is an Honorary Life Member and the Charity Fund director. Bob supports our Degree teams and is known as “The Music Man.” He is at almost every business and social meeting. Both are members of the Retirees Club. Bob is also a duckpin bowler in the Retirees league and carries a 98 average. I spotted Bob in the kitchen recently. When you see Bob and Ann Brown congratulate them as the November Family of the Month for their dedication to the Rosensteel Family.

October 2018

Ray and Nancy Koski

This Rosensteel Family supports many of the events and programs at the Council. They are very active in the Council’s Retirees Club. One is president of the club and the other the treasurer. They have been involved in the Bowling League for many years and it doesn’t stop there. One is a past president of the Maryknights and is still running the Hospital Pillow Program. They were involved in the Capital Improvement Program and one is a member of the Cardinal O’Boyle Assembly #386. Let’s not forget they both are members of the infamous Table 21 Gang seen at many Columbian Room events.

Please thank Ray and Nancy Koski when you see them. They are the Rosensteel Council Family of the Month for October.

September 2018

Council Wardens and Guards

Along with the Council Warden, the Council Guards are the ‘watchdogs’ for Council property and degree paraphernalia, except the property of the Financial Secretary, Treasurer and Recorder. They assist the Warden in setting up the Council chambers for meetings and ceremonial exemplifications. The Outside Guards tends to the outer door, admitting visitors and members to the inner door. Once at the inner door, the Inside Guard checks to make sure that membership cards are current. They insure that a record of attendees is kept that will verify that a quorum is present if needed. They are there also to maintain order in the room.

They are truly a Rosensteel Family. Congratulations to the Council Guards Terrence “Burr” Brady, Richard Colburn and Mark Borkoski as the Family of the Month. Please tell them thanks. And don’t forget you membership card to the next meeting!

August 2018

Jeanne & Andre Berman

Families at our Council know what to do with their God-given gift of time and talent. When it comes to a Council event, this family is not often seen or heard but they are there. They seem to be happy with just helping others at the Council. I’ve seen both of them working in the kitchen on a Friday Night or supporting a Maryknights event. Their family members who have preceded their involvement have left a mark on this Council we can all be proud of. If you’ve come to a Council
dinner event you’ve had his great salad. Recently, one of them helped me lose money at the Texas Hold ‘em table on Maryknights Casino Night. A loss I’m willing to take because of the benefit.

They are truly a Rosensteel Family. Congratulations to Maryknights Vice President Jeanne Berman and her husband Andre.

Please tell them thanks.
Brother

July 2018

Mary's Widows

Together, this family is not you stereotype family but it acts like one. Separately, they all belong to a family. They have the knowledge and experience of being a member of the Rosensteel Family as well as any Past Grand Knight has accumulated over decades. They may be invisible to a Brother Knight, especially one like me who has not been a Knight of Columbus for very long. They don’t look to sponsor an event, but many support our events and their Parish events as workers or participants. They are not in the business to try and bolster their membership roles. It is truly a sad day when one has become eligible to be a member, but when one door closes another one opens up. Because of what they have in common they enjoy each other’s company and kinship.

Recently, I had the honor to attend one of those gathering of this family and truly saw up close its interest in this Council and its desire to
succeed in its mission of charitable works and helping families in need. They were very interested as to what direction the Council was headed
in the new Fraternal Year. Many of them told me of their involvement in many Council activities over the decades.

Because they are Family and they are still a valuable resource they are recognized as this month’s Family of the Month. Congratulations to
Mary’s Widows. Please tell them thanks.

June 2018

Stan and Jane Mcleod

The selection for Family of the Month epitomizes the theme of unselfish contribution of time and energy that often goes unseen, yet is much appreciated. Their personal touch can be seen in the decorations in the entry foyer and the Jouvenal Room. There’s a prominent charity tip jar on the Knights’ Room bar that has drawn attention and increased donations for charity.

He can be seen playing cards every week and she is often amidst friends cheering on our home teams. Although they recently re-retired from kitchen crew responsibilities, they can still be found working hard in the kitchen to keep their Rosensteel family well fed and happy. Please congratulate Stan and Jane Mcleod as your Family of the Month!

May 2018

Gus and Ruth Gusman

The selection for Family of the Month contin-ues along the theme of unselfish contribution of time and energy that often goes unseen, yet much appreciated. This family attends many functions and are regulars at Friday family dinners. For example, what most folks don’t know is that as we’re arriving for our Friday Family Rosary, this family has chauffeured attendees so that they may attend the Rosary and the dinner. This Knight can be also seen as frequently serving as an usher at the Basilica as much as he’s seen at the Council. His wife is a champion of his charitable efforts and is always by his side, smiling and ready to pitch in.

Please congratulate Gus and Ruth Gusman when you see them. And don’t be afraid to offer assistance with their many charitable efforts, (they’re shy about asking but would welcome the help).

April 2018

John and Sara Liddi

The selection for Family of the Month represents unselfish contribution of time and energy for the greater good. And this month, it’s a family that quietly melds into our Rosensteel family, frequently enjoying Friday Family dinners and Council events. They’re often available to volunteer on short notice, happy to contribute, positively and enthusiastically engaged every time they help out. They’ve had their challenges over the last several months and yet their cheerful demeanor just makes you smile to be in their presence. Please congratulate John and Sara Liddi as our Family of the Month!

Quite honestly, they are quiet, wonderful role models of leading by example and Rosensteel is all the better for having them in our family.

March 2018

Joe and Glorie Rogers

The selection for Family of the month represents tenacity and unselfish contribution of time and energy for the greater good. The family of the month also personifies the quote “Behind every successful man is a great woman.” The quote and this family live the truism that no man becomes great in a vacuum, but instead is helped to achieve great heights through the love and support of his wife.

Year in and year out, this family has quietly yet diligently worked at other locations on behalf of the Council. Twice a month, they venture out and shower attention and love on senior citizens in nursing homes. Though one is frequently wheelchair bound, his wife is always by his side, supporting his every effort. And with that, I’ve tipped my hand: Please congratulate Joe and Gloria Rogers as our Family of the Month! Quite honestly, they are quiet, wonderful role models of leading a Christ-like life in service to others and Rosensteel is all the better for having them in our family.

February 2018

The Maryknights Auxiliary

The selection for Family of the month continues the theme of unselfish contribution of time and energy. This month, the recognition for our family of the Month is also a celebration. Year in and year out, this recipient has quietly yet diligently worked at the periphery of the council. You can find members of this family supporting our Bingo nights and helping with Friday Family dinners. You can find them at Friday night rosaries and at Memorial Masses. They are world-class fundraisers, frequently surpassing the financial goals they set. They attend meetings to support one another in support of the greater good of the Council. And they just celebrated their Birthday/Anniversary!

Please congratulate the members of The Maryknights Auxiliary as our February Family of the month! Quite honestly, they are the framework that keeps we Knights on track and at the forefront of the mission of the Knights of Columbus. Thank you Maryknights for your endless contributions to ensuring that Fr. Rosensteel Council maintains an incredibly familial and social environment.

January 2018

Steve & Heather Caffi & Bill & Barbara Dassing

The selection for Family of the month continues the theme of unselfish contribution of time and energy that often goes unseen, yet much appreciated. In this case, the recognition for family of the month is actually a shared one. Year in and year out, these families are as consistent as the tides in their roles.

Although kind enough to acknowledge the GK’s request, they really are the ones in charge They know when to start pulling things together, whom to reach out to and how to put their plan in action for not one, but two major family events that focus on children. The Halloween Party and the Christmas party are always a big hit with parents and kids alike, and these families share equally in the preparation and hosting of the parties.

Please congratulate Steve and Heather Caffi along with Bill and Barbara Dassing as our families of the month! Quite honestly, they are the reason these parties consistently result in peals of laughter and enjoyment of the kids, and the happy smiles of many a parent. Thank you, Caffis and Dassings, for your timeless contributions to ensuring the Council maintains a familial environment.

December 2017

Mary and Joseph

We often focus on the culmination of the birth of our Savior, the night in the manger, the three Wise Men gathering in homage, the stars shining brightly in the clear cold sky as shepherds keep watch. We should also focus on the three main figures in the tale: a poor carpenter, strong of hand and heart, unwavering in his faith. A humble woman whose inner beauty radiated beyond her out-er appearance, equally strong in her faith. And then there’s the child in the manger. This child is the King of Men, who arrived as a Savior for us all. Yes, our Family of the Month is the Family who gave us our Lord and Christ. May Joseph, Mary and Jesus re-main front and center in your hearts, in your words and in your deeds, throughout Christmas and beyond. Peace.

November 2017

Dan & Beth Ward

The selection for Family of the Month continues the theme of unselfish contribution of time and energy that often goes unseen, yet much appreciated. This family was on a health-related sabbatical for a significant portion of the year. It took months and months of doctor appointments, inpatient and outpatient visits before this family got a green light to return to action, and did they ever! I’ll always remember the phone call I received from Dan Ward saying that his doctor had given him permission to return to a normal activity level and I could just hear the excitement in Dan’s voice as he offered to pitch in again. Within a week of joining FS Mike Koon as membership director, he had scheduled two membership drives. With the strong support of his wife, Beth, he orchestrated the resurrection of the Candlelight Rosary and Benediction on the 20th Anniversary of the Memorial for the Unborn. And folks, Dan and Beth are just getting warmed up! Please congratulate our Family of the Month, Dan & Beth Ward!

October 2017

Stan and Jane McLeod

The selection for Family of the Month continues along the theme of unselfish contribution of time and energy that often goes unseen, yet much appreciated. This family attends many functions and are regulars at Friday family dinners. What most folks don’t know is that while we’re just arriving to relax and enjoy a good meal or a Council function, this family has been hard at work for hours, often days in advance. Whether decorating, planning events, cooking, or bartending, Stan and Jane McLeod have done all the heavy lifting to ensure our
happiness at the Council.

Please congratulate Stan and Jane when you see them. And don’t be afraid to offer to assist them with their efforts, many hands make light(er) work.

September 2017

Al and Pat Wigmore

What do you call a family who has devoted an immeasurable amount of their lives to the charitable efforts of their faith through their Knights of Columbus Council? How do you address the quiet champion of a major fundraising component of Rosensteel? Can you even call out the name of the family that is consistently on the scene, week after week, year after year? The answer to all of these questions is:Brother Al Wigmore and his Lady, Pat.

Al has been the man behind the Bingo scene for many years and his efforts continue to result in a growth in attendance, volunteer hours and income (and PS - the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as evidenced by their son John and their grandson Shane’s participation in our Council).

Please say a big “Thank You” next time you see Al and Pat.

August 2017

The Russell Sutton Family

The Family of the Month is a no-brainer this time around. This family pulled together an amazing volunteer event in record time, assembling 40-some volunteers that worked in full sun over the course of a hot yet happy Saturday. They orchestrated a first-rate team, manning grills, prepping food service stations and then joyfully serving meals to volunteers and the veterans in need at the VA hospital. Congratulations to our Family of the Month, the Cardinal O’Boyle Assembly, captained by our very own PGK Russell Sutton.

July 2017

The Maryknights

I’m considering rewriting the lyrics of a song to help appreciate my very first selection for Family of the Month. This family is always visible, yet rarely in the spotlight. They too are frequent and consistent volunteers around the Council. I’ve seen this family toiling away at the breakfasts, during midday events and at evening functions. Whether they show up as a team or as individuals you’ll always know a member of the Family of the Month: The Maryknights!

We are Family, I got all my Maryknights with me!

All, all of the people around us they say

Can they be that close

Just let me state for the record

They're giving love in a family dose

We are Family, I got all my Maryknights with me!

June 2017

Council Chair Officers

This choice may not fit within everyone’s definition of a “family,” but it may be the last chance I get to thank this group in print. There are several definitions for a family that may apply, “the staff of a high official (such as the President);” this is one, but I prefer “a group of people united by certain convictions or a common affiliation.“ This family has been with us through thick and thin; it has been supportive while always considering the membership’s best interest.

Among them I don’t believe they have missed but a couple of Council
meetings and functions, required and non-required. They have helped chair and organize dozens of programs and events. They have attended District, Chapter and State meetings and programs. They have committed seven years of their lives to the Council as officers and trustees.

Please join me in thanking your Council chair officers: Bruce Cotting, Jim Mannion and Gus Gusman for their service to and support of our Council.

May 2017

Joe and Laura Marks Family

- He took his First Degree in 1987 and one son took his First Degree in 2013. His other son plans to join this summer while home from college. She can be seen around the Council from time to time, usually visiting him while he performs his daily duties around the Council. He is a PGK and has served on every board and committee available to a member. He runs a kitchen crew and chairs the annual golf outing. He has taken the lead on running the hospitality suite at the Princess Royale at the State Convention for more than a dozen years. He has served as clubhouse manager for some time now.

Please join me in thanking and congratulating the Marks family,
Joe, Laura, Marshall and Will as our May Family of the Month.

April 2017

Chris Langley and Family

He took his First Degree in 2010 and quickly became one of the “Friday Night Families.” Nick and Ellie ran amuck in the Emerald Room while he and Tina enjoyed a Friday Night Dinner and an adult beverage. It wasn’t long before he put together his own kitchen crew and it has proved to be one of the best. His crew is filled with members whose families consistently filled the Emerald Room on Friday Nights. He is part of the Breakfast Crew and helps out in kitchen and grilling whenever possible. He is a regular bartender on the 20th.

March 2017

Brian and Lisa Slattery Family

: It was a typical Friday
night at the Council when Cheryl and I were joined
by this Family of the Month. The father started telling
stories of the good old days around the Council.
We listened, laughed and then came to the conclusion
that he was either 20 years older than he
looked or many of the events occurred when he was
a teenager. Well, it was the latter; he spoke of the
Council as a historian (but much funnier). He has
been a Knight for over 25 years, served as lecturer
for two Grand Knights, a regular bartender and attends
many Council events.
Brian met his wife, Lisa, at the Council. They
held their reception in the Columbian Room. She is
best known by Beach Party attendees as the perennial
winner of the limbo contest. They are the proud
parents of seven-year-old twin girls, Karen and
Morgan.

March 2016

The Donnelly's

This month’s family of the month
has historically had a huge impact
and presence here at Rosensteel.
Bonnie and Mike both work kitchen
crews. Mike is on the Nominations
Committee. Their son Dave and his
family can be seen at the council on
a regular basis. Dave recently
headed up the Super bowl party with
Stan McLeod and a host of others.
Dave also works a kitchen crew and
is a member of the Breakfast crew.
Dave and his brother Doug play on
our championship softball team. We
don’t get to see much of Doug now
that he and his family live in Arnold,
MD. but he is still a member in good
standing. Their sister Karen has
been seen around the Council chasing
down her nieces and nephews, most
recently at the Super Bowl Party. So
please join me in thanking the Donnelly
family (as seen below) as our
Family of the Month.

February 2016

Jim and Barbara Dailey

We owe a great deal of thanks to this month’s Family
of the Month for implementing our new Bingo Program
of September 9, 2015. They designed and formatted the
program to fit our needs. She is a Maryknight and occasionally
helps serve the Bingo dinners along with her
granddaughter Hannah on Wednesday nights.
He worked very hard for weeks on this project and he
had to balance increasing our prize money along with a
modest increase in our prices. These program changes
have worked well and have contributed to our increasing
profits during the last three months. He also cashiers
for us and manages the service line and paper products
as needed. We salute Jim and Barbara Dailey for
their service and continued support of our Bingo program
throughout the past 10 years. Please pull them
aside to thank and congratulate them.
