Couple launches Mercy Works Louisville - Louisville - Louisville Business First
Mercy Works provides care for seniors in the Louisville area by matching up each client with a caregiver based on their wants and needs. We give the client as much control as possible in the selection of their companion, who will assist them with the activities of daily living.

Jeff and Brigid Flood formed Mercy Works Louisville to help respond to the growing need for compassionate care in the senior community. By starting a small, local business, they strive to keep the care very personal and allow the client as much control as possible. Jeff and Brigid are very hands on and take pride in knowing each client and caregiver on a very personal level. By doing so, they are able to identify the right match to create a positive experience from day one. Mercy Works gives the client the control to choose their caregiver and care plan as to maintain the highest satisfaction and levels of independence.

How do you select your caregivers?
- Our caregivers are selected only after a 3 step interview process, background check, drug screening, TB test, nurse abuse registry check, and past reference checks. Mercy Works is very selective about those we choose to represent our company in the field.
Will there be someone different everyday?
-One of our main focus points is to create continuity between our clients and caregivers. Our caregivers are asked to commit to a client long term before that assignment is given. Any time a caregiver change is needed, your Mercy Works care planner will accompany the new caregiver to your home for an introduction. We want to keep things as personal and warm as possible.
Why should I choose Mercy Works? There are a lot of companies.
-Mercy Works takes great pride in delivering better care at lower prices than our competitors. We are a locally owned family business and it shows through our work. We got into this industry to improve the product and deliver better care than what we saw from other companies. By staying small and taking exceptional care of our clients, we are able to keep our pricing 15-25% below the larger corporations.
Are Mercy Works caregivers employees or contractors?
-All caregivers are employees of Mercy Works Louisville. We provide insurance, bonding and workers compensation for all staff. We want to remove all the burdens so our clients can sit back and enjoy our care!
Is there a minimum hour requirement?
-We normally ask for a 3 hour minimum commitment per shift. We will consider alternatives on an individual basis.
Is there a mileage charge for transportation?
-If our caregiver uses their vehicle for transporting, we do ask for a $0.50 charge per mile to cover our insurance and gas costs. If our client has a vehicle we can use for transporting, there is no additional charge. We will request a copy of their insurance declarations page for our records.
How quickly can service start?
-Mercy Works Louisville can typically start service on the day of your call if needed. We do want to conduct an in-home assessment with all clients prior to service in order to build the correct plan of care and select the right caregiver for your home.
