HERST, Raymond J. On November 23, 2017, Raymond J. Herst passed away at age 93. Born Raymond John Herstowski on June 17, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Lillian Herstowski; his wife, Carol (nee Bartelak) and their daughter, Karen (Kobler). He is survived by three children, Neal and wife, Brenda, David and Thomas all of Tucson and four grandchildren, Andrew Herst and wife, Myriam and Jonathan Herst and Billy and Justin Kobler and great-grandchildren, Mona, Zinedine, Camden and Kaylee Herst. In 2000 Ray married Mary Pinello in Tucson. She, her two children, David and Bill and wife, Stephanie and their children, Ava and Bridgit, also survived him. After graduating from J. Sterling Morton High School in Cicero, Illinois Ray joined the United States Marine Corps where he served valiantly in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He was part of the occupation force in Japan. He was a proud Marine until his death. Ray was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who devoted all his attention to their needs. Ray was a devout Catholic who contributed generously to the church. As a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seaton Parish he served as an usher and was a life-member of the Knights of Columbus. A Funeral Service beginning with the Rosary at 11:00 a.m. followed by Mass at 12:00 p.m. will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seaton Church, 8650 N. Shannon Road.
