ASSEMBLY #2392 - MSGR. DON H. HUGHES REMEMBERS
TIM DONOVAN
APRIL 2020

SK TIMOTHY J. DONOVAN was born on Tuesday, January 25, 1938 and passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020. DR. TIMOTHY J. DONOVAN was a resident of Madison, Wisconsin at the time of passing.

Dr. Timothy Jay Donovan, 82, died peacefully after a long battle with multiple myeloma and a recent COVID-19 infection. He had a career of over 40 years as an ENT specialist after graduating from Marquette University and receiving his medical degree from UW School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison. This year would have marked his 55th wedding anniversary to his wife and the love of his life, Margaret (Marti). He is survived by his wife, a daughter, three grandchildren, and eight siblings. While Tim was a formidable part of the Madison community and of The Dean Clinic and St. Mary's Hospital for over 40 years, he retired in 1999, and he and Marti began spending the winters in Tucson, Ariz. They returned home to Madison every spring, summer and fall. SK Tim Donovan joined the Knights of Columbus in 2012 and ascended to the Patriotic (4th) degree in January 2017.

Tim became a good friend about 20 years ago when we wintered in Tucson. Four couples with connections to Wisconsin started golfing and socializing together and formed a close-knit group that we called the "Tubac Group”. We would gather six times a year both in AZ and WI. Tim was fiercely competitive which contributed to his values and dedication to any task he pursued. This was evident in his professional life as well as golf, bridge, tennis and the strong bond he formed with his friendships. At Ventana Canyon, Tim became a well-respected leader in the two terms he served on the Board of Governors. When he spoke, members listened and if any disagreement he was prepared for a healthy debate. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and would pitch in to help when in AZ. Tim was a consummate Medical Doctor and embodiment of a true professional. He passed away in April 2020 and is missed by all his friends.
