ASSEMBLY #2152 - MSGR. JAMES T. WEBER REMEMBERS
STEPHEN F SURMIK
JANUARY 2019

It is with great sadness yet faith-filled joy we announce that Stephen Surmik went to join our loving Lord on Monday, January 28, 2019 at the age of 85.

Born in Creighton, PA to Elizabeth and Stephen, he was surrounded by a bouquet of sisters: Stephanie, Elizabeth, Justine, Irene and Sylvia who fondly called him “Zeke”.

After serving two years as a gunnery sergeant in the Korean War, he married the “Unforgettable” love of his life, Joann in 1957. As business owners in Warren, PA, Steve & Joann were active in their community and helped keep the local population supplied with adult beverages for 17 years. He pulled up stakes and relocated to Tucson, AZ in 1977, but the town of Warren was never far from his dreams.

An accomplished carpenter, Steve whistled while he worked and filled the homes of friends and family with fine artisan furniture and gifts. He enjoyed fishing; hunting with his favorite son-in-law, Tom; and playing golf with his buddies. He was active in his church; and served with the Knights of Columbus. Until recently, he was the oldest 4th Degree Grand Knight in Arizona.

Now in his Celestial Home, Steve leaves behind Joann, his wife of 62 years; four children: Lizabeth, Stephen, Ann and Maria; and their families which include six grandchildren.
