Fr Lutz Reflection

Dear Friends in Christ,

Paul makes an association between faith and love in Christ Jesus in his second letter to Timothy.   Faith and love can be considered interchangeable words in some respects.   To have faith in someone, one must surely love that person and respect that person and believe in that person and be committed to that person, thus being an unreserved follower of that person.   That is what our faith in Jesus Christ is all about: love, respect, belief and commitment.   This is what Paul is urging Timothy: to be unreservedly committed to following Jesus in faith and in love.  Read on ... Brothers,

The Gos­pel from St. Luke for today's Mass shows us that the Apostles were well aware of their far-from-perfect faith. They ask the Lord: Increase our faith! And this is precisely what He did. As a result, the Apostles gave their lives for Christ and his teachings. The Lord's words were fulfilled: “Were your faith the size of a mustard seed you could say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.” An even greater miracle was the transformation of the souls they came into contact with.
